Wojciech Konikiewicz /born 1956/ is a rare example of a person whose educational background includes studies in classical music / piano, composition /, technology/ electroacoustics.
Konikiewicz has a well-established position in several fields of activity especially as a : Composer- he creates music from works for symphony & chamber orchestra, choir,string quartet, reed trio, saxophone and piano, saxophone and organ, harp and organ etc. to progressive jazz, experimental, electronic / ambient /, ethno and sacral pieces.

The remarkable features of his music are:
- treating music and sound as a mood-creating unity
- modern harmonies and techniques that reflect composer's interest in 20th century music
- echoes of in-deep studies in sacral and ethnic music
- using both hi-tech electronic and acoustic instruments
Since 1985 he writes music for feature, documentary, experimental and TV films, as well as for theatre, ballet and mime theatre.
Performer - he performs both as a soloist / piano, electronic instruments,pipe organ, harpsichord/ and as a member of groups- playing contemporary ,experimental, jazz or improvised music. He also takes part in some multicultural projects, cooperating with musicians of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Educator and theoretician of culture - leads workshops, meetings, publishes essays, articles etc.

From an interview "...I compose and organize music which is not another version of Mac Donalds hamburger, definitely. XX century has brought so many invaluable inspirations- Webern, Messiaen, Lutoslawski-on the other hand Miles, Ornette, Jimi plus all this techno-cyber revolution; there is a whole world of endless possibilities for conscious musician who tries to acquire a level of creativity that would result in a true art of a new millenium : this is my world, definitely."

After studies in Wroc?aw (acoustics, composition, piano and philosophy) he set many groups and projects(also international) that put into reality his ideas. He writes and performs jazz,as well as experimental,electronic(ambient), contemporary classical (chamber,choir etc.) and sacral music. Some of his works reflect deep interest of the composer in ethnic and ancient music,as well.He also writes a music for film, ballet, theatre and TV spectacles. One of his most interesting interdisciplinary ideas- The Independent Institute of Sound and Harmony is now in development.
Last but not least, he is an active writer and theoretician (many essays,articles etc.) as well as a lecturer and workshop leader(contemporary composition techniques,synthesizer programming & sampling, studio technology, psychoacoustics, philosophy of music etc.)
